Whatever the reason for the damage, the chimney repair team at RJL Chimneys can assist.
Chimney flaunching is the bed of mortar which holds chimney pots in place on top of the chimney stack. It also helps to prevent rainwater permeating the top of the brick or stone of the stack. In older homes, lime mortar was used for flaunching, and this will deteriorate over the years
The mortar joints between brickwork can, over time become weathered, this can result in its erosion which in turn can lead to water ingress and damage to the chimney. Renewing the pointing of the mortar joint will restore its strength and longevity.
In some circumstances the chimney will be beyond a smaller repair and then part of or the entire chimney stack may need rebuilding. This will prevent the potential for falling debris and further damage to other aspects of the property.
These are usually completed as part of a new log burner installation. However, there may be circumstances where just a liner is required. This could be in older brick built flues or if an existing flue liner has failed.
